Subscription Plans

The Widget Builder uses a license-based system to manage feature access. Each organization is assigned a plan that defines usage limits. This page explains how plans work and what to expect.

How Plans Work

Your organization's plan is assigned when your Widget Builder account is created. Each plan defines three configurable limits:

LimitDescription
Widget LimitMaximum number of active widgets (custom widgets + built-in widgets combined)
User LimitMaximum number of concurrent users within a 30-day period
DurationHow long the license is valid (some plans have no expiration)

You can view your current plan in Settings > Subscription in the Widget Builder.

What Happens When Limits Are Reached

Widget Limit

When you reach your widget limit, you cannot activate additional widgets or built-in widgets. You will see an error message:

"Your license allows only X active widgets"

To resolve this: Deactivate widgets you no longer need, or contact JASP to upgrade your plan.

tip

The widget limit counts both custom widgets and activated built-in widgets. Inactive (draft) widgets do not count toward the limit.

User Limit

The user limit tracks unique active users over a 30-day rolling window. If exceeded, your organization receives a compliance notification. Access is not immediately blocked — this is a soft limit designed to help you right-size your plan.

License Expiration

If your license has an expiration date, you will see the remaining validity in the Settings page. An expired license prevents access to the Widget Builder until it is renewed.

Free Plan

The free plan includes basic Widget Builder functionality with the following notable difference:

  • "Powered by JASP" branding — A small text line appears at the bottom of every widget rendered in Staffbase.

Upgrading to a paid plan removes this branding.

Viewing Your Plan

  1. Go to Settings in the Widget Builder sidebar.
  2. Scroll to the Subscription section.
  3. You will see:
    • Your license name (e.g., "Professional") with an "Active" badge
    • License expiration date (if applicable)
    • User limit (if applicable)

Changing Your Plan

Plans are managed by JASP. To upgrade, downgrade, or renew your plan:

note

When downgrading to a plan with a lower widget limit, the Widget Builder will automatically deactivate excess widgets, starting with the oldest ones.
